As a young man growing up in the 60s & 70s it was customary to have girls flirt and guys would come on to girls as well. Not a big deal, accepted by both sides & enjoyed. That's how people met one another & sometimes got a date. It actually was common practice in the work industry that the same behavior happened, as it was a way of life. Either side was not defensive or even knew any better to think something was wrong with talking & having a fun conversation. It's important to point out here that there was never ill intent by either side. If you talk to baby boomers today, & they are honest, they will agree with what I just said.
Opening doors & being a gentleman to women was the norm, wanting to treat them with respect & likewise they felt respect for the guys too. So far nothing upsetting to either side. Then, there was a woman who started a 'woman's rights' movement & everyone looked at each other like 'what'? I always felt women were already empowered & now someone was telling them they needed to be more empowered.
Everyone knows all this already, right...
It has gotten completely out of hand in many different areas, far beyond women's issues. Our culture has made a serious change for the worse & it's not going to get better! In the later part of 2017 there were daily numbers of women filing suits against men who had treated them with disrespect. I'm not a lawyer so I am trying to explain issues in a language I understand, I don't know all the details, but am certainly in the ball park with my view. It's America, right...well maybe not anymore. So, as I understand this.. all the sexual harassment has been going on since the 60s & probably back to the beginning of time. I read where women are suing men all the way back to childhood years for playing Doctor or something, crazy. Evidently no statute of limitations applies here.
I would still like to 'like' women, but for the last ten years have not gone near females. It is out of control & dangerous. Casual conversation in a store, a park, at work can now be construed wrongly. I could go on here and talk in more detail about young people & their rights, their language, their disrespect for authority, their indignation, entitlement, narcissism, lack of a work ethic, poor self image, & on & on, but I'm trying to stay focused.
Is there anything provocative any longer about women. Watch TV, read the internet, look at advertisements, walk down the street of any town in the US, it's disgusting & short of being totally uncensored. What role models do the young ladies have today? If your going to dress, talk, & act as you do expect an unhealthy response...don't cry wolf & maybe its time for the guys to feel offended..
I will stop with my rant...all I am trying to convey is how can we make the world a little healthier. Maybe we need a little more self respect on both sides...
